If you'd like to become a dance teacher, or wish to gain professional degree certification as a dance educator or judge, contact Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) Fellow and Examiner Phillip Stephens via email@example.com. The ISTD was founded in London, England, in 1904 and encompasses a wide range of dance styles. In the more than 100 years of its existence, the ISTD has become known as the World's Leading Dance Examinations Board.
After 29 years of owning and operating Houston's largest Ballroom, Latin, Country-Western and "Club" dance studio, Phillip Stephens and Michael Schedler sold The Dance Place to Guoyong Zhang and his wife, Huan Huan She. Phillip and Michael will continue teaching in the beautiful facilities they built and nourished over the years, but feel that it is time they move forward into another phase of their dance careers.
Careers In Dance
With the advent of TV shows like Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance, more and more people are taking dance lessons. Due to the increased demand for lessons, there is a growing shortage of dance instructors. If you enjoy dancing and have a knack for helping others understand the steps, you may be a prime candidate for a career in dance!
Phillip Stephens is a Fellow and Examiner with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), which is a World Wide teaching organization founded in London, England, in 1904. The ISTD encompasses many styles of dance from Salsa, Argentine Tango, Mambo and other individual dances to complete styles of dance such as the American Smooth or the International Latin. Phillip Stephens has taught dancing for over 40 years. He has competed with students and fellow professionals. He has conducted many workshops for dancers of all skill levels, has choreographed numerous exhibitions and competitive routines and has coached many amateur and professional couples. Phillip has judged and lectured throughout the USA and in Europe.
Instructors are needed at all levels for all styles, which is why Phillip Stephens has put together a variety of courses to help you get started in your personal career in dance. You will learn all the figures in all the dances covered, learn a routine in each dance covered, and learn all the technical details needed to teach. While you may not plan to take an examination, these courses will help you master all the requirements needed for a professional degree examination with the ISTD.
Phillip is accepting applications now for the 2014 International Latin course which will begin in late February. This course will cover the Student Teacher and Associate level for Cha cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive. For persons interested in attaining the Licentiate degree, this course is a necessary review and some additional sessions will be offered.
